Burkina Faso Update

March 2008

Greetings to ALL.
This is a short update on our last trip to Burkina Faso....Feb-March 2008.
The time went fast -too quick.  This was the first time for teaching in the new school that we started at the Wendpanga Center.  Dax Swanson, Jon Severson, Shay Swanson, John Doss and Ben Bronson were the teachers.  It sure was fun to see them teach at the new school.  Wow-what a blessing.  Everyone was blessed-the pastors (all 120 of them) and the teachers. The aim of the school is to give the pastors (mostly from the bush) some instruction on how to teach through the Bible-verse by verse.
I have been teaching in Burkina for 20 years and I have never seen the enthusiam that the pastors showed.....they even stayed awake for the really hot afternoon session.  It was a two week teaching.  We went through the books of Joshua, I Timothy and II Timothy and Titus.
This was the main reason for the trip. However, it seems, that the other reason for being in Burkina at this time was to have an understanding on what the crops were like this year.    The rains were not good and therefore the crops did poorly.  So, there will be a big need this Summer for us to buy food.
I am asking at this time for help.  Only for food.  If you want to give food to Burkina-then, this is the time ( by August 1, 2008).   I will try to get as much money together as I can - just to buy food.  Any money that comes in marked for food-goes to food...all the money.
We are planning on going back to Burkina for another session at the Wendpanga Center...but that will not start until the end of September.  The session - this time will be for another 120 pastors and it will last 2 weeks..until the 10th of October.
Depending on how the rains go this year, I am hoping to build at least another 10-20 churches.
So, we have lots to pray for:
1.  The food buying-that people here can see and know the big need for buying grain.
2.  The teaching at the new Wendpanga center.  That the pastors are blessed as well as    the teachers.
3.  The rain comes well-this year.
4.  Our health-so that we can continue to go and help in Burkina.

Thanks-barka wusgo-for all the prayers and support that each of you have given to us and to the ministry in Burkina Faso.  I know that The Lord will bless you and he will pay you back for all that you do.
Much love in Jesus,
Jerry and Jan
